Hermosa Beach
Hermosa Beach might be the smallest of the Beach cities of The South Bay, but this extremely pedestrian-friendly area is home to one of the most significant beach volleyball tournaments in the world; the AVP Hermosa Beach Open! Magazine articles and dreams include scenes from the breathtaking oceanfront views offered by the town. With its laid-back vibe, it has been voted one of the best beach towns in California multiple times. Each smaller neighborhood includes classic beach style and modern coastal style homes near amenities to create a fantastic balance between city life and beach life. Three vibrant areas join to make Hermosa Beach a highly enjoyable place to work, play, learn, and call home.
Sand Section
All sections of the square mile and a half town are beautiful places to live, the Sand Section is the most sought-after of all due to its location literally, on the sand. Large estates, beach bungalows, townhomes, and apartment buildings in this section are tightly nestled along the coast for the ultimate in “beach living.” Streets closest to the sand are walk-only and homes are accessed through convenient alleyways and attached garages. Walk streets create their own micro-neighborhoods. For most properties, the beach becomes your “backyard” as lots tend to be smaller in the Sand Section. This unique section allows you to be close to the water, as well as shopping, dining, and the Pier promenade. The liveliness of the area is embodied by the active lifestyle of its residents.
Hermosa Valley
Hermosa Valley is the next area east, sitting between Valley Drive and Pacific Coast Highway—still very close to the sand. Portions of this area are set high and therefore include fantastic ocean views, giving it its alternate name, “the Hills of Hermosa Beach”. A beautifully tree-lined and wood-chipped trail runs south along the length of this section. It is aptly named The Greenbelt. Set just off the hustle and bustle of the beach, Hermosa Valley has several home styles giving buyers many choices!
East Hermosa Beach
Located the furthest east of Pacific Coast Highway (Sepulveda Blvd), homes in East Hermosa Beach are typically elevated on a hill, providing ocean views from a handful of them. Residents here enjoy being within biking distance (or a quick five-minute drive) to downtown Hermosa Beach. East Hermosa is full of homes with spectacular views at a slightly lower price point than those in the Sand Section. Plus, they are also closer to Hermosa View Elementary School and Mira Costa High School.
